Course Notes

This is a closed course. The Swim will be in a lake and will be wetsuit legal. The bike course is on new roads and is flat and fast. The run course will be through Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park.

Collegiate Course

Current Water Temp is 48 Degrees

Per ITU rules, water temps under 55.4 F (13 C) require the swim to be cancelled. In the event of weather preventing the swim leg, athletes will instead participate in a run as the first leg of the event. The Race director and officials will make this decision 1 hour prior to your wave start. We will be watching the weather and water temperature closely. Collegiate/Age group will do 1 loop of run course

Schedule of Events

  • All Athletes must be in the park by 7:45am
  • Youth F1 (Male & Female)  Transition Opens - 7:00am; race starts 8:00am
  • Youth F1 Awards - 9:00am
  • Collegiate Female - Transition Opens 8:00am, race starts 9:10am
  • Collegiate Male - Transition Opens 9:30am, race starts 10:40am
  • Collegiate Awards - 12:15pm

Collegiate (Male & Female)

  • Collegiate Athletes Only under the age of 29 as of December 31,2013
  • Each Race Field is Limited to 75 males and 75 females.
  • ALL Athletes are REQUIRED to attend a pre-race meeting on Saturday, March 9th at the Race site, Time is 3:00pm

Draft Legal Requirements

You are racing under the USAT Competitive Rules and there will be USAT certified referees on the course to ensure fairness in the competition. There will be no warnings if you commit a foul during competition. At the end of the race all citations by the marshals are reviewed by the Head Referee who then decides if a penalty should be assessed. The Head Referee's ruling is final in the case of Position Violations and there are no protests or appeals of Position penalties.

The following rules will be strictly enforced:

  • 1. Road handlebars only (NO TRIATHLON forward facing bars allowed)
  • 2. No disc wheels allowed
  • 3. All USAT draft legal elite rules apply

Draft-Legal Triathlon - 10 Rules to Remember

  • The pre-race meeting is mandatory.
  • Time penalties assessed as "stop and go" with verbal warning.
  • Wetsuits are not allowed above 20°C (68°F).
  • Athletes must move forward after the start signal.
  • Blocking or interfering with the forward progress of another competitor is not allowed.
  • Helmet chin-strap must be buckled at all times while touching the bike.
  • All equipment must be placed in your individual transition bin after use.
  • Torso must be covered from race start to finish.
  • Bicycle must have a traditional triangular frame; wheels must have at least 12 spokes; handlebars must be traditional drop-style with bar-ends plugged; clip-on aerobars may not extend beyond the brake levers' foremost line and must be bridged; no bar-end gear shifters allowed; elbow pads are allowed; no junior gear restrictions (as in cycling)

Packet Pickup & Pre-Race Meeting

ALL Athletes MUST attend the Pre-Race Meeting on Saturday, March 9th at the Race Site, Time is 3:00pm
Packet Pickup will be help directly after the Pre-Race Meeting.

Registration/Late Registration

Online registration will end on Thursday, March 7th and late registration will be available at the race site from 1 - 2pm for F1 and 1 - 3pm for collegiate/age group.

USAT Membership

All participants must be a current annual member of USAT or purchase a one day membership through online registration or at packet pickup.

  • Adult Annual Membership is $45 or a one day membership is $12 and can be purchased through online registration or at packet pickup. All established USAT rules will be in effect and will be strictly enforced. You must show your USAT member card and your photo ID at packet pick up - no exceptions. Friends and family will not be allowed to pick up anyone's packet.
  • Youth Annual Membership (17 & Under) is $15 or a one day membership is $10 and can be purchased through online registration or at packet pickup. All established USAT rules will be in effect and will be strictly enforced. You must show your child’s USAT member card and your photo ID at packet pick up - no exceptions. Parents or legal guardians may pick up children’s packet. Child does not have to be with parent or legal guardian

Weather

Average temperature on race day: 58-72 degrees fahrenheit 

For safety reasons, Playtri reserves the right to modify or cancel a race due to severe weather conditions. When severe weather is present, all precautions will be made to ensure the safety of the athletes.

Chip Timing by Run-Far 

The Collegiate Triathlon is a chip-timed event. Each triathlon participant will be required to wear a timing chip in order to be counted in the results. Timing chips are assigned to participants according to bib number. Triathlon participants should pick up your timing chip the morning of the race at the chip timing station an hour before race start after being body-marked. ALL TIMING CHIPS SHOULD BE RETURNED AFTER YOU CROSS THE FINISH LINE. A $30.00 fee will be charged to the participant if the timing chip is not returned.  Awards are based on chip times.
