Put on your cowboy gear and get ready for an event that will kick your boots off! There's been trouble a brewin' in the Wild West where the Fletcher Gang, the wiliest, dirtiest, 'n' meanest pack of varmints in the territory, are stirrin' up a load of trouble down at Sabine Creek Ranch.

Run-The-Ranch, on October 2, 2010 is a 3.5 mile run through the pastures, creeks, 'n' woods of the ranch to accompany a shipment of gold and save the town! Those Fletcher boys have set up obstacles that are meant to slow you down, rough you up, 'n' even knock you out. As Sheriff, I need the bravest 'n' craziest of all you cowboys, cowgirls 'n' even young cowpokes to gather your gear and come RUN-THE-RANCH. There will be honorary prizes for those who just show up to do their duty of saving the town. Awards will also be given for speed, costumes and more. 

We need some Buckaroo help, too!  10 & unders will run 0.5 miles and complete 2 obstacles.  11-14 year olds will run 1.0 miles and complete 4 obstacles.

Every cowboy, cowgirl 'n' young cowpoke will go home with:

SO, WHAT ARE YA WAITIN' FOR? Bring your posse and accept the challenge. You can even rent a miner's cabin or bring your tent to camp out before the big event. And because we just KNOW you'll save the town, we're planning the biggest shin dig since Texas became a nation! There'll be live music, food, hay rides and a passle of fun that you'll never forget! First wave starts at 9:00 AM, following waves every 30 minutes until 2:00 PM.
Bukaroo Dash times are 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM.
Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled start time!

Course

The Run-the-Ranch is 3.5 miles with 10 obstacles for cowboys and cowgirls 14 and older.

The Buckaroo Dash for 10 & under is 0.5 miles with 2 obstacles

The Buckaroo Dash for the 11-14 year olds is 1 mile with 4 obstacles.

Course Notes :

Participants must complete all obstacles.  If one is unable to complete an obstacle he/she may bypass the obstacle, although they will be disqualified from all prizes if they're in a timed wave.

Participants aren't required to swim in any race.  Any body of water that will be traveled through is only three to four feet deep.

All participants should wear appropriate clothing - running shoes are suggested.

There will be hoses to help spray participants down and a pond to wash off in after the race.

Finishing Run-the-Ranch is about mental persistence and strength rather than being in good shape.

Packet Pick Up / Late Registration

Please bring your photo ID with you to packet pick up.

You can only pick up a friend's packet if:

1.You have a copy of your friend's Photo ID,

2.A signed letter from your friend stating that you are allowed to pick up their packet.

Race day packets and materials must be picked up on-site or at packet pick-up locations; they will not be shipped to participants.

Packet pick up locations and times will be available by August 1^st.

Note: No refunds given to those participants who have not picked up their packets.  Packets will not be mailed.

Medical Support

There will be paramedics and an ambulance on site in case of any emergencies.

Awards

^

Everyone who finishes the race will receive a Finisher's award. There will be awards given for the top 3 overall males and females as well as 3 deep for the following age divisions.

T o be eligible for overall or age group awards, you must select that you want to be timed when you register and must race in one of the "timed" waves.

Age division awards will be determined based on one's age on race day for those racing in the timed waves only.

All awards are based on the official chip time.

Participants must pick up their award in person. No awards will be shipped.

Benefiting Charity

All proceeds will benefit Sabine Creek Ranch. Founded in 2003, Sabine Creek Ranch is a camp and retreat center, as well as a working ranch, on 33 acres just east of Dallas near Rockwall.  Each year, they host thousands of kids for summer camps, and many more adults, churches, schools and other groups during our retreat season.  They also produce natural, grass-fed beef for customers across the Metroplex.  They are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and many of our kids can only experience camp because of the tax-deductible scholarships they receive from generous donors.  In particular, they host one week just for kids from refugee camps around the world who have recently been relocated to the Dallas area by the United Nations.  Camp is one of the best experiences for young lives, and kids meet friends and grow in every area of faith and life during their time at Sabine Creek Ranch.

Camping

Cabin Rentals are available on a first come first serve basis.  They are $200 for the first 1-10 people and $20 for each additional person (each cabin sleeps up to 20).

Tent camping is also available on a first come first serve basis.  Cost per site will be available by July 15^th.

Weather

^

Average temperature on race day: low 70 - high 85.

For safety reasons, Playtri reserves the right to modify or cancel a race due to severe weather conditions. When severe weather is present, all precautions will be made to ensure the safety of the athletes.

Chip Timing by Run-Far

This is a chip timed event for participants who choose to be timed.  You will be required to wear a timing chip in order to be eligible for awards. Timing chips are assigned to participants according to bib number. Awards are based on chip times.
