St. Croix Ironman 70.3 Training Camp: Feb 26 - Mar 2, 2014


Come spend 4 1/2 days training on the challenging and scenic St. Croix Ironman 70.3 course in the beautiful Virgin Islands, while attending training, racing and nutrition seminars. The camp is an excellent opportunity for triathletes who want to build a strong base for the upcoming season. This camp is designed for athletes of all abilities – from the beginner wanting to have an athletic vacation to the serious triathlete looking for some hard core training.

How This Camp Can Help You

  • Learn and Improve key fundamentals to successful open water swimming
  • Develop strong hill climbing strategies and practices
  • Experience the Beauty and the Beast of the Ironman 70.3 race circuit
  • Improve your fitness exponentially in a short period of intense training time

Athlete Fitness

This camp is designed to meet the needs of the beginner to the experienced triathlete. The rides will be between 10–60 miles, the runs will be from 3–13 miles, and the swims between 1500 meters–1.2 miles, with the distance being your decision.

The minimum amount of each distance you should be able to do for each sport in order to attend the camp are as follows:

  • Swim: 500 meters
  • Bike: 10 miles
  • Run: 3 miles

Support and sag will be provided on the swim, bike and run courses.

USAT Membership

The camp will be USAT sanctioned. You must be a USAT annual member or purchase a one day membership to participate in the camp. A one day membership can be purchased at the athlete check-in on Sunday.

7:00-8:00pm:   Lecture:  How to make the most of your power meter and heart rate data

8:00-8:30pm: Review of Week and Next Day

7:00-8:00am: Open Water Swim Clinic

9:00-2:00pm: Bike around island

3:30-4:30pm: Run

5:30 – 8pm: Group Dinner and Buck Island Tour


Friday

7:00-8:30am: Open Water Swim Clinic/Open Swim

8:30-2:30pm: Bike with Hill Climbing Clinic at the Beast

4:00-5:00pm: Run

5:00-6:00pm: Why is mental preparation as important as physical preparation

6:00pm: Group Dinner/Activity


Saturday

7:00-8:00am: Open Water Swim Clinic / Open Swim

8:30-12:30pm: Bike St. Croix Ironman 70.3 Course

4:00-5:30pm: Snorkel Tour at Cane Bay (Dive package available for additional charge)


Sunday

7:00-8:30am: Open Water Swim

9:30-11:30am: Run on St. Croix Ironman 70.3 course

12:00-2:00pm: Final Wrap Up
