Virtual Triathlon & Run-Bike-Run
Can't come to the race but want to participate, get a t-shirt and a finisher medal?
Want to try a tri but you're really shy to show up?
We have a race for you, VIRTUAL RACE!
A virtual triathlon is a race that can be completed at any location. You can walk, use the treadmill, run outside or participate in another race. You can ride on a trainer or cycle outside. You can swim in a pool, a lake or the sea! You can run your race at your pace anywhere! This is a great way for the rookie athlete to build up confidence to show up for the real thing!
Virtual races are a great way to stay fit, motivated, have the sense of participating and get a great t-shirt and medal!
You can complete the required distance in each discipline during the week coming up to the actual race, in your pace, in your environment.
You can send us your stats at virtual@playtri.com You can send the evidence of completing the race distances to virtual@playtri.com but it is not required. You can send a screenshot from an app, your watch, your laptop or even a photo of your treadmill results for your runs. You can use MayMyRun / MapMyRide, Strava, Garmin or any other digital fitness app. Submitting evidence of your swim distance is harder, unless you have a swim compatible device so you will we believe you did it. At the end of the day, if you don't do it, you would only be lying to yourself and you would not be able to wear a cool t-shirt with a triathlon logo!
Your t-shirt and finisher medal will be mailed to you the week after the race. Have fun out there!

When the Transition Area opens, you may rack your bike and place other race gear. Visit tab HOW TO RACK YOUR BIKE for details on racking your bike.
Only participants and event staff are allowed in the transition area. Please advise your family and friends that they will need to remain outside of the transition area.
When can I check my bike out of transition?
Transition opens for bike checkout when the final athlete has entered transition from the bike course and then left transition for the run course. You may not remove your bike before this time. Transition Coordinators will monitor the situation.
This protocol exists to ensure a fair and safe transition for all athletes and your cooperation is appreciated.
Packet Pickup Dates & Locations
Packet pickup procedures are regulated by USA Triathlon and the logistics of race, please plan accordingly.
USA Triathlon is allowing others to pick up race packets for other individuals.
The person picking up the packet must have a copy of the athlete’s ID and written verification from the athlete that the individual picking up the packet is authorized to do so. Smartphones can also be used to show both a photo of another athlete's ID and a digital copy of their race confirmation.
One person may pick up up to 4 packets at one time to ensure fairness to others standing in line. Should one person be picking up more than the mentioned 4 packets, he or she is welcome to join the packet pickup line again as if they just entered the location.
ALL athletes are required to show photo ID at the time of packet pickup. NO ID, NO RACE, NO EXCEPTIONS. Every single participant, including relay participants, must have a photo ID. A Youth athlete without an ID must be accompanied by a parent/guardian with a photo ID. If an athlete does not bring a photo ID to packet pickup, there are two options: 1 Go home to get it 2 Have someone email/text them a copy of their photo ID.
NO CHANGES TO REGISTRATION DETAILS WILL BE DONE AT PACKET PICKUP. Request to change registration details must be emailed to Events@Playtri.com.
***Race day packet pickup will be available for an additional charge of $20 per athlete. Only cash will be accepted. Please be prepared accordingly for this option if you plan to take advantage of it.

USAT “RACE AGE” POLICY
An athlete's age for any USAT sanctioned race will be his/her age as of Dec. 31 of the current race year. The age he/she is on 12/31 will determine his/her racing age group. If an athlete is due to "age-up" into the next group, it will happen at the beginning of the year, not after the athlete's birthday.
This action aligns regular U.S. age group racing with the method used by USA Triathlon for its National Rankings Program and its Grand Prix Series.

One-Day License If you are not an annual member, you must purchase a one-day license to participate in a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. A one-day license also provides the athlete participant accident medical coverage while they are participating in a USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event.
Why is USAT one-day license required? Learn here what USAT membership provides.
This event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and rules will be in effect, please familiarize yourself with those prior the event: https://www.usatriathlon.org/multisport/rules

Relay Teams
COMPETE AS A RELAY TEAM! Relay = team of 2 or 3 participants. All team members must have their own USAT membership (whether annual or one day).
All 2 or 3 members of a relay team will share one race number and one timing chip. Timing chip is to be handed off to the next member at the bike racked in the transition area. As the swimmer or runner arrives at the bike, he or she will give the chip to the cyclist. As the cyclist completes the bike course and arrives at the bike, he or she will hand off the timing chip to the runner. Bicycle must be placed on the bike rack while chip exchanges take place.
Fees listed are per person. To register a relay team, the first person (captain) will register him or her self and name the team. Other members of the team will join the team name. All team members must have their own USAT membership (whether annual or one day).

Refund Policy
No refunds or transfers allowed.
This event follows the standard running industry policy: All entry fees are non-refundable. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control such as a natural disaster or emergency or as required to protect the safety of participants and staff. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. We reserve the right to change the details of the event without prior notice.
A considerable amount of work and planning goes into planning events like this one and we do so with the best intentions. Refunding entry fees based on changes of participants schedules is not feasible as permits and basic provisions must be ordered ahead of time. We appreciate your support and understanding, and we will continue to work hard to produce fun and safe events for your best experience.

For safety reasons, Playtri Racing reserves the right to modify or cancel a race due to severe weather conditions. When severe weather is present, all precautions will be made to ensure the safety of the athletes.
Chip Timing
This is a chip timed event. Each participant will be required to wear a timing chip in order to be counted in the results. Timing chips are assigned to participants according to bib number. Please pick up your timing chip the morning of the race at the chip timing station beginning an hour before race start. Awards are based on chip times.
Volunteers
Volunteers may sign up for a task they will enjoy! Go to the registration page and click on tab Volunteer. Thank you!
Without volunteers, we simply can't have races. Without volunteers, there is no one to tell athletes where to turn, hand out water, cheer everyone on - and yes - how much fun is body marking?! Volunteers get everyone pumped up and motivated. As a volunteer, you'll feel like you made a valuable contribution to the success of the race. And who knows? You could turn into a participant at the next race! Simply put, volunteers are the heart of triathlon races.
