About MICHAEL
Michael graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science and double majored in Mathematics. While in school, he was part of the Track and Field team as a sprinter, mainly focusing on the 100m, 200m, and 400m races. He also was a Junior National level swimmer from his sophomore through senior years of high school. Michael then completed his Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology. Following college, Michael started the varsity swim team at Eaton High School in Haslet, TX. In the 3 years he coached at Eaton, he grew the program from 12 to 35 and brought the team to a boys and girls district championship in just their second year as a Varsity program. Currently, Michael is the head coach at Reagan High School where he has coached over 14 All-American level swimmers, as well as 3 6A Texas State Champions, and has coached his current high school team to a top 9 program in the state. Michael competed in his first triathlon in 2016 because of his experience in swimming and running. Following a two-year hiatus from the sport, he started to take triathlon more seriously in 2020 when pools shut down and he was no longer able to coach club swimming for a couple of months; in his first 70.3, he qualified for the 2021 World Championships. He has found a passion for the sport and is looking forward to helping bring that passion to more athletes. Michael's experience as not only a competitive athlete, but as a head swim coach, allows him to help bring success to all levels of athlete, from first-time triathletes to World Championship hopefuls.
I am one of the biggest triathlon fans that you will ever meet, and I hope that my passion is something that becomes contagious to my athletes, the more that we talk about future goals and how we are going to go about successes from a season to season basis. My goal is to help you see that anything is possible in the sport of triathlon, and I will do everything in my power to help you achieve anything you set your mind to.
