COLLEGIATE SUMMER PROGRAM

What are you doing this summer?

Coming in 2025, the Playtri Collegiate Summer Program will provide a training space for collegiate athletes in pursuit of a USA Triathlon elite license as part of the draft-legal pathway.

When

Summer 2025 (exact dates dependent on individual athlete academic calendars)

WHERE

North Texas (training locations vary, but are centered around the McKinney/Allen area)


What’s Included?

  • Free homestay for the summer

  • 8+ hours of coached swim training (pool and OWS) each week

  • 5+ hours of team bike training each week including weekly crits, group rides and skill work

  • 3+ hours of team run training each week, with individually tailored sessions

  • 2+ hours of coached strength & conditioning each week

  • Race support at the Jenny Lee NTDR in Pittsburgh

  • Race support at a WT Continental Cup at the end of the summer (event TBD)

  • Individual training schedule guidance via TrainingPeaks (for athletes working with a collegiate coach, we will ensure individual training is aligned with their goals for your long-term development and ‘25-’26 season)

  • TrainingPeaks Premium account access for the duration of your program

Athletes will be expected to provide their own equipment for training and racing and are responsible for race fees and travel expenses during the program.

WHO SHOULD Apply

Any U25 collegiate athlete pursuing an elite license with USA Triathlon on the draft-legal pathway who meets the pre-requisites outlined below, and wants to spend their summer:

  • In a team training environment with passionate, experienced coaches and other dedicated draft-legal triathletes ages 15 to 23

  • Developing a stronger race swim with plenty of pool and open water training, and opportunities for private technique sessions

  • Improving bike racing skills and fitness in local crit races, group rides and specific skill work in practices

  • Strengthening their run foundation with a focus on form and intentional training sessions, as well as targeted strength, conditioning and plyometric programming

  • Pursuing an elite license and/or continental level WT competition while maintaining health and form for the 2024-2025 collegiate racing seasons



Pre-Requisites

To be considered for the program, athletes must meet one of the following standards:

  • Be a current member of an NCAA Women’s Triathlon program

  • Be a current collegiate club triathlete with draft-legal racing experience

  • Be a current single sport collegiate athlete or collegiate club triathlete without draft-legal racing experience who meets at least one swim and one run “Development Potential” standard for their gender as outlined on the USAT Talent ID Program page

$800

*If cost is an issue, let us know! We have work opportunities at our stores and with our youth teams and camps to help alleviate costs for participating athletes.



Lodging and Transport

Homestay will be provided to accepted athletes by the families of athletes in our junior program. Transport to team training sessions will be available with homestay. Athletes are responsible for their meals, and transport for other activities.



Apply Now

Applications will be due by March 10, 2025. Individuals meeting the pre-requisites outlined above will be contacted to schedule a Zoom interview with the Head Coach as part of the application process. Accepted athletes will be notified by April 10, 2025.
